I went out surfing yesterday, but took a few pictures before going out. They are posted at http://www.surfcountry.net/091107campus_62.html. A few of the pics are below.

Local surfing chiropractor, Kevin English, sent me a great video of Mike Furner surfing at Poles in October. The video is posted on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugaQOxPfqw8.

Anyway, it has been fun surfing but the water temps are dropping. Ya might want to get a wetsuit if you are used to warmer waters!

P.S. The shaping room is almost done. The first coat of primer went on last week. After it gets painted, the lighting will need to be installed and it will be good to go. I haven't gotten details from Doug on how the shaping room reservations will be handled. I'll let you know when I find out more..

It was a warm sunny day when I went out and then the marine layer rolled in and the tide went out. The waves were pretty good...from what I could tell. The rest of the pictures are here..

The weather was great last Saturday. The waves were small but it was fun for a little.

The new store looks great. There is lots of room and new inventory...go in before the best stuff gets bought. When I checked last week, the new shaping room wasn't quite finished, but as soon as it is, I will take pics and get the details on how Doug intends to use it. Will people be able to use it to shape their own boards? I am not sure at this point!

Some pages don't display correctly, but that is a problem with Sitemaker...can't do much about that...do let me know if any links are broken.

Doug is going to be gone for awhile. My goal is to redo the website by the time he returns. I think I am going to stick with this design but I'd like to get more graphics to use on the site.

Surf Country will be moving in a couple weeks to 109B South Fairview Avenue, Goleta, CA 93117 (across the Street from McDonald's). The new place has much more room; there is going to be a shaping room in the back. It is also more conveniently located for people heading to Campus Pt. to surf. The move should happen 9-11-09. Send Nat@surfcountry.net your email and I'll make sure we notify you about the details of the new location.






The dog LOVES the new place! Just wait until all the stuff get moved into it!

Since I'm in-between jobs, I took a trip out to O'ahu to surf. I've gotten a bunch of pics:

I was kind of bummed that Palekaiko Beachboys seems to have disappeared or merged with their neighboring beachboy stand. My favorite beachboy, Big Todd was there giving lessons.

Much to my surprise the international marketplace is still there (I thought they were tearing the place down in September 2005). The big renovation project is still happening, but I think they are doing it phases.

Yesterday, I was walking up Kalakaua Avenue and I ran into Denver who used to work at Gold's Gym. Apparently this was the worst winter ever in O'ahu! Poor Denver sounds like he may be getting island fever.

The surf has been good and the weather has been warm. It rained yesterday but I was surfing so it didn't really matter.
